BLACKJACK – A CLASSICAL CASINO GAME, BLACKJACK STRATEGIES, TIPS, AND RULES

Blackjack is considered one of the most popular card games in casinos. It has been known as a game of chance in Europe since the 17th century. Nothing has changed since then: the main goal in blackjack is still to hit exactly 21 points. Blackjack is sometimes referred to as “21” and is by far the most popular casino table game in existence. Enormously popular because the game is simply a blast to play and easy to learn.

In this short Blackjack guide, you’ll learn all about the rules, strategies, and tips for the game.

The gameplay and rules of blackjack are very simple to understand. This makes the game very straightforward and fair. Unpredictability and house advantages are not hidden behind show effects. If you make good and thoughtful decisions, you can win consistently in blackjack.

As we have mentioned before, the main player’s goal is to get as close or exactly to 21 points as possible with his cards, but without exceeding this sum. Then the hand is immediately lost for the player. As a player, you should therefore know exactly what to do in the game and what the cards in your hand mean. It is very important if you want to win.

THE BLACKJACK RULES

The blackjack game rules are not complicated! Up to 6 players sit at a semi-circular table.

All players compete against the dealer. At the beginning, two cards are dealt to everyone. After that, everyone can decide whether they want to receive an additional card or not. To win, players must have a higher total than the dealer without exceeding 21. Then you have “overbought” or “busted”. Other options would be to have exactly 21 or less as long as the dealer does not have a higher hand. A Blackjack is exactly 21, which is a combination of an Ace with a 10, Jack, Queen or King. However, there are other blackjack variants as well as extended game options. But more about that later.

HOW TO COUNT CARDS IN BLACKJACK

Here the values from two to ten correspond to the value in the game. Jack, Queen and King always count as ten. The only card that must be considered separately is the Ace. This can be counted as either one or eleven. But always in favour of the player.

Another special feature of the ace is the “soft” and the “hard” hand. When a hand contains an ace, it is called a soft hand because it has two possible values. In contrast, a hard hand has no aces and only one possible total.

Anyway, there are some options in Blackjack you need to know. Sometimes they are used in combination. This means that you should familiarize yourself with the specifics before each game.

So, insurance is available whenever the dealer’s first card is an ace. However, this is only an option for you, and of course you don’t have to take it. If you choose insurance, a new bet equal to half of your original bet will be placed against the dealer’s possible Blackjack. If this is the case, you have won the insurance bet 2:1, which reduces your loss. If the dealer does not have Blackjack, you have lost the bet and the hand continues as usual. You should know that insurance works very much in the casino’s favour and there is no situation in which it is statistically advisable to take this bet.

Surrendering is another option in the Blackjack rules. Here you have the option to surrender your hand before taking any more cards. This usually occurs only when the dealer has an ace or a card of value ten. Late surrender is allowed only after the dealer has checked for blackjack.

The next option is split – after you receive the first two cards, you have a chance to split your hand, which will give you two. For this, of course, you must place a second bet of the same amount as your first. The only restriction arises when you receive two aces. Then you may only take one more card each after splitting to reduce the chance of improving your hand with other options, such as Hit Split or Double Down.

With Double Down you can double your bet. However, only after you have received the first two cards, or you decide to double down after a split.
